Methodology: Detection of Gene Rearrangements Involving the BCL2 Locus on Chromosomes 18 and the IGH Locus on Chromosome 14 by PCR coupled with Southern Blotting
Tube Type: Lavender top (EDTA)
Specimen: Whole blood, bone marrow, paraffin embedded tissue:block, 5-10 unstained slides or 5 curls (NOTE: slides and curls 10μm thick with accompanying before and after cut H&E slides); purified DNA (1μg)
Alternate Specimen: Yellow top (ACDH) for whole blood or bone marrow
Pediatric Requirements: 0.5 mL (whole blood or bone marrow)
Volume: 4 mL (whole blood or bone marrow)
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL whole blood
Temperature: EDTA,and ACDH tubes: room temperature or refrigerated, purified DNA - freeze, paraffin block: room temperature
Stability: EDTA and ACDH tubes - Room temperature: 2 days Refrigerated: 3 days; Purified DNA - indefinitely @ -70°C; Paraffin block - indefinitely
Reasons for Rejection: Decalcification (paraffin embedded tissue.Client will be notified by Molecular Diagnostics Lab if specimen is rejected.
Days Performed: Once a week - variable days

TAT: 7-14 days
