: Material from any site except blood - specify source. DO NOT PLACE URINE, CSF or any body fluid in transport media
: 1 - 2 mL urine
: 10 - 15 mL urine
: Store refrigerated (2-8° C), do not freeze, transport on wet ice
: Labile specimen. Keep refrigerated.
Reasons for Rejection
: Collected more than 1 day prior to receipt in lab, urine in container with additive, calcium alginate or wooden-shaft swab, dry swab, leakage
: Monday - Saturday
: Monday - Friday: 6:30 am to 11:00 pm, Saturday: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
: Culture: 1-30 days, antigen: 24 - 48 hours
: Send to lab immediately on ice. Place in 3ml universal transport medium UNLESS liquid specimen (urine, CSF, etc.). No wooden or calcium alginate swabs. Additional tests/charges may be added as appropriate.
