Reasons for Rejection: Not done if patient is in hospital >3 days. Leaking container. Excessive delay in transport.
Days Performed: Daily
TAT: Culture: 3-5 days
Significance:
Special Instructions: Culture includes examination for Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter, Yersinia enterocolitica, E. coli O157:H7. There will be separate charges for organism identification and susceptibility testing when appropriate. Culture not done if patient has been in the hospital > 3 days.
