Volume: 10 mL (aerobic bottle); 7 mL (anaerobic bottle)
Minimum Volume: 8 mL (aerobic bottle); 5 mL (anerobic bottle)
Temperature: Room temperature
Stability: Send to lab immediately.
Reasons for Rejection: Excessive delay in transport.
Days Performed: Daily
TAT: 6 days for negative cultures. Time varies for positive cultures.
Significance: Positive cultures are called. Isolates are saved for 6 months in case further workup is needed.
