LIGHT CHAINS QUANTITATIVE URINE (LCQ)

Department: Chemistry
Test Synonym(s): LCQ, Bence Jones Protein
Test Components: Free Kappa Light Chains, Free Kappa Excretion/Day, Free Lambda Light Chains, Free Lambda Excretion/Day, Free Kappa/Lambda Ratio, Albumin Urine, Summed Urine Protein, Summed Urine Protein/Day
Methodology: The Binding Site Quantitative Immunoassay
Reference Range: Free KLC: 0.14-2.42; Free LLC: 0.02-0.67; Free K/L Ratio: 2.04-10.37; Albumin Urine; 0.0-14.9
Tube Type: 24 hour urine container-plain (no additive)
Specimen: 24 hour urine
Temperature: Refrigerated
Significance: The Summed Urine Protein is determined by adding the measured albumin, kappa and lambda light chains. This value may not agree with the total protein as determined by chemical methods, which typically underestimate the light chain concentrations.

Special Instructions: Refrigerate during collection - label with beginning and ending collection times and dates - indicate total volume if an aliquot is sent. Mix specimen.
