Specimen: Heparinized blood
Alternate Specimen: Dark green top (Sodium Heparin); Pediatric bullets or microtainers are unacceptable.
Pediatric Requirements: 1 mL
Volume: 5 mL
Temperature: Refrigerated
Reasons for Rejection: Clotted sample, pediatric bullets or microtainer
Special Instructions: Lab needs heparinized syringe or full green top tube. Pediatric bullets and microtainers are unacceptable.
Specimen must be collected and transported anaerobically. No air spaces. Send on ice.
Must be in lab by 2hr after draw.
