Reasons for Rejection: Excessive delay in transport.

TAT: 4 weeks for negative culture. Varies for positive culture.
Significance: Positive cultures are called.
Special Instructions: There will be separate charges for organism identification and susceptibility testing when appropriate. Susceptibility testing for molds or yeast are not done routinely; when requested, susceptibility tests are sent to reference laboratory.
