1. Saturday, Nov 7 at 2PM, I can no longer use VCare functions and should listen for an overhead announcement to be made that VCare and Wiz are not available.
2. VCare functions I most frequently use are *transferring and discharging, printing face sheets, and requesting patient transport.*
3. Send Message function is now available in Wiz and I am using it to send messages to Patient Transport and other areas.
4. Sat., Nov. 7, I will begin transferring and discharging patients and printing face sheets in Medipac 3.
5. Unless I have been through a 2-hr Medipac class, I will NOT have the functions to transfer and discharge patients.
6. All of the MRs on my unit has been to the 2-hr Medipac training. No Medipac training classes are scheduled until after Thanksgiving
7. If my unit does not have 24hr MR coverage, there is at least one person on my unit at all times who has been trained in Medipac 3 to discharge and transfer patients.
8. To get to Medipac, I go to the desktop, click on 3270 Emulator, type in Medipac or tab to the Medipac field, then press Ctrl.
My Medipac functions are: PPRF - Patient Profile Print (Print face sheets & request cards) NDSC- Nursing Unit Discharge (Inpatient Discharge) DSCC- Discharge Cancel (Inpatient Discharge Cancelled) NDPT Nursing Unit Depart (Outpatient Discharge/Depart) DPTC- OP/ER Departure Cancel (Outpatient Depart Cancelled) NXFE- Nursing Unit Transfer (Transfer patient)
10. Sat. Nov. 7, all systems, except MARS & NOVA will be down from 2:00pm until approximately 6:30pm.
11. Nurses and CPs coming to work at 7:00pm will need to use the COS that I printed before the systems go down and manually update it as orders are written.
12. MARS will be available with results current except between the hours of 2:00-3:30pm. I should look in the Microscope for test results during those hours. After 3:30pm, MARS should contain all results.
13. NOVA will be available. If a patient is not in NOVA census, I should call my Service Center with the patient's name & room number.
14. During this 4.5 hr downtime, all Transfers and Discharges should be called in to the ADT Control Desk at 30387. Admitting staff will keep track of patients and patients will be in the correct location before systems (Wiz & Medipac) come back up.
15. An overhead announcement will be made when systems are up.

To Do List

Friday, Nov 6 at 11pm, print a Wiz Patient List by clicking on printout box from STAT screen. Select for a given unit, select your unit. This is a backup list just in case there is a problem with VCare. Confirm that your census is accurate.
Saturday, Nov 7 at 1pm, print another Wiz Patient List. Use this list to keep track of all Admissions, Discharges and Transfers during the DT from 2:00pm until 6:30pm.
Nov 7 at 1pm, print Current Order Sheets for nurses and CP coming on at 7:00pm just in case the systems do not come back up. These will need to be manually updated if orders are written.
Make sure all charts have a Physician Order Sheet because all orders must be written during the downtime Saturday Nov 7.
Listen for an overhead announcement, Sat. 2:00pm, before WizOrder and VCare go down.
Call Admitting at 3-0387 when patients are discharged or transferred between 2:00pm-6:30pm on Sat. or until the systems come back up.
Expect admitting to call you between 2:00-6:30pm on Sat. to check bed availability and alert you of admissions. Write all admissions on the Wiz patient list printed at 1:00pm.
Listen for an overhead announcement when WizOrder and Medipac are available.
Check your census after the announcement. If census in Medipac and WizOrder does not match the "Patient List" that you have kept, call Admitting.

Expect

To use your Downtime Kits so check your supplies.

Practice Sessions on your unit before the Medipac conversion process begins. Trainers are available in the medical center during these days and times. Beep 888-4145 or call the Help Desk during these times to have someone come to your unit.

Wed Nov 4 4:30pm-9:00pm. Thurs Nov 5 9:45am - 12noon.

24hr support beginning Fri. Nov 6 at 7:00pm until Fri Nov 13 at 6:00am, then tapering support.
