Grading Information

OVERVIEW OF GRADING
ON THE SURGERY ROTATION

As of August 4, 2003, we no longer use letter grades to signify clinical clerkship performance. The guidelines are that up to 25% of the class will receive "honors" designation.

The expected and average grade on this clerkship will be "high pass."

You will be graded on clinical and testing performance as follows:

  • 70% clinical *
  • 15% shelf exam
  • 15% oral exam

* Your clinical grade is comprised of :

  • 60 % general surgery block
  • 20% subspecialty #1
  • 20% subspecialty #2
