Dr. Allen's clinical interests presently are pituitary tumors and radiosurgery of brain tumors and vascular malformations.

Education:

Dr. Allen received his MD degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 1967. He received his PhD from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN in 1975.

Postgraduate Training:

Dr. Allen completed his internship training in Surgery at Duke University in Durham, NC in 1981. He was a research associate at the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke from 1968 to 1970. He continued his residency training in Neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN between 1970 and 1975, where he also received his doctorate degree. He became a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons in 1978.

Other Responsibilities:

Dr. Allen is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Brain Surgery Society, the Society of Neurological Surgeons, the H. William Scott, Jr. Society, and the Society of Neurosurgical Anesthesia and Neurologic Supportive Care.
