Dr. Mericle is the Director of Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center. He is the Residency Program Director for Neurosurgery and Co-Director of the Vanderbilt Multidisciplinary Stroke Center. His clinical interest is in all aspects of Neurovascular Surgery and Brain Tumor Surgery, including both open and minimally invasive surgery for Intracranial Aneurysms, AVMs, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Carotid Stenosis, Spinal AVMs, and Skull Base Surgery.

Education:

Dr. Mericle received a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Zoology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, both with highest honors, at the University of Oklahoma. He received his M.D. degree in 1993 from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, during which time he was awarded the prestigious Canby Robinson Society Scholarship Prize, a four-year, full-tuition scholarship.

Postgraduate Training:

Dr. Mericle completed the Internship in General Surgery and Residency in Neurological Surgery between 1993 and 2000 at the University of Florida School of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. He then completed a two-year fellowship in Neuroendovascular Surgery at State University of New York in Buffalo.

Dr. Mericle is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and serves on the Joint Section of Cerebrovascular Surgery for the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He is ad hoc reviewer for the scientific journal Neurosurgery.
