There will be positions available for the six-year program and the four-year program beginning July 1, 2009.
Benefits: The stipend for the first year of residency training during the year 2009-2010 is estimated to be for $45,660 with raises for each additional year of training. The stipend is not paid while the trainee is receiving course credit as a medical student unless the credit is for clinical rotations in oral and maxillofacial surgery and anesthesia. In the latter situation, the trainee will receive both a stipend and medical school credit. The trainee is responsible for the last three years of Vanderbilt Medical School tuition.

Requirements for Admission:
- Competitive undergraduate GPA;
- Graduation from ADA accredited US or Canadian Dental School, or
- Graduation from foreign dental school with documentation of US or Canadian equivalent education;
- Successful performance on the National Dental Boards, Part 1 and 2;
- OMS externship / clerkship experience
- Three letters of recommendation (1 dental school Dean, 2 OMS faculty);
- Dental license in any state (Tennessee dental license not required);
- Recent passport size photo.
The Vanderbilt Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program participates in the American Association of Dental Schools Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS). Completed application forms must be returned to PASS by Wednesday, September 17, 2008. The most qualified applicants will be invited for a personal interview in November, 2008.
The Vanderbilt program will also be participating in the 2009 Residency Matching Program sponsored by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Information regarding the postdoctoral matching program may be found on the Internet at the following address: www.natmatch.com/dentres. Therefore, all individuals applying for a position at Vanderbilt must participate in the Match. If you do not have a Match Agreement request form contact this office and we will be happy to forward this form to you. The Vanderbilt OMS program codes are as follows:
