All of our faculty have special interest and training in pediatric general and thoracic surgery, including airway problems, newborn surgery, management of burns and injuries, and pediatric tumors. In addition, the new modalities of laparoscopy and thoracoscopy are also being utilized in children's surgery. Wallace W. Neblett, III, M.D. Dr. Neblett received his MD degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1971 and conducted his postgraduate training in General Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. James A. O'Neill, Jr., M.D. Dr. O'Neill received his MD degree from Yale University School of Medicine in 1959. His postgraduate training was conducted at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Columbus Children's Hospital. He is Chairman Emeritus of the Vanderbilt Department of Surgery and Section of Surgical Sciences. John B. Pietsch, M.D. Dr. Pietsch received his MD degree from the University of Michigan School of Medicine in 1972. His postgraduate training was conducted at the University of Michigan Medical Center and McGill University, Montreal Children's Hospital, Montreal, Canada. Harold N. Lovvorn, III, M.D. Dr. Lovvorn received his MD degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis in 1993. He completed his postgraduate training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and the Children's Institute of Surgical Science of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Lovvorn also completed a clinical fellowship in Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery at LeBonheur and St. Jude Children's hospitals in Memphis, Tennessee. Walter M. Morgan, III, M.D. Dr. Morgan received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1982. His postgraduate training in surgery and pediatric surgery was conducted at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Stephen E. Morrow, M.D.
