This fellowship is designed for surgical residents who have completed three or more years of approved residency training in a surgical specialty, and who are interested in a career in Plastic Surgery. Research fellows typically develop an independent wound healing project under the close supervision of Dr. Nanney, and have the opportunity to learn a host of laboratory techniques appropriate to their previous experience in laboratory benchwork. There is ample opportunity to participate in other ongoing projects within the lab or the Vanderbilt Burn Center. Additionally, Research Fellows are encouraged to participate in all Plastic Surgery didactic conferences and journal clubs, with the goal of identifying a more clinically focused project that will allow them to interact with the residents and faculty and make a significant contribution to the field of Plastic Surgery. The position includes a stipend, and travel expenses are provided for fellows who have the opportunity to present their research at a national or regional scientific or clinical meeting.
Application for this position should be made through the office of the Chairman of Plastic Surgery. Please contact Jammie Baber at (615) 936-0198, or jammie.baber@vanderbilt.edu.
