Claudia Andl, Ph.D.

Claudia Andl, Ph.D., Division of Surgical Oncology, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TennesseeClaudia Andl currently focuses her research on the interaction of E-cadherin and TGF-β receptor II in modulating cancer migration and invasion.

Education

Dr. Andl received the Masters of Science (1992-97) from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. She received her Ph.D. (1998-01) from the University of Essen, Germany (Summa cum laude), completing her research project for that degree at the University of Pennsylvania, PA.

Postdoctoral Training

From August 2001 through July 2002 Dr. Andl wa a Visiting Scholar in the GI Division at the University of Pennsylvania. Thereafter until September 2005 she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and then until January 2008 served as a Research Associate. In February 2008 she joined the Vanderbilt University faculty as Assistant Professor.

  • June 2005:  Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Conference, Travel Award
  • July 2005-July 2006:  NIH Kirschstein NRSA fellowship (funded through June 2008, but returned due to obtaining AGA career development award)
  • July 2006- 2009: American Gastroenterology Association/ Foundation for Digestive Health & Nutrition (FDHN) Research Scholar Award
  • July 2007: NIH-KO1 (funded through 2012)
