John Edward Phay, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Surgery
Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Dr. Phay has a strong research interest in endocrine diseases, focusing on the identification and characterization of glucose transporters in malignancies. His clinical interests include all aspects of general surgery and surgical oncology, with emphasis on endocrine surgery, especially thyroid surgery, minimally invasive parathyroid surgery, and laparoscopic adrenalectomies. Dr. Phay comes to Vanderbilt from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
Education
Dr. Phay received his undergraduate degree (B.A., 1987) from Williams
College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. His medical degree is from the
University of California School of Medicine at San Francisco, California
(1993).
Postdoctoral Training
Dr. Phay completed his residency in General Surgery at the Washington
University School of Medicine.
