Photographic portrait of John M. Flexner. John M. Flexner, M.D., joined the faculty at Vanderbilt, attaining the rank of full Professor of Medicine in 1983. He was elected Professor of Clinical Oncology by the American Cancer Society, a title held for 10 years. Flexner has also been appointed the title of Professor of Medicine Emeritus in Hematologist/Oncologist. He was the founder of Alive Hospice in Nashville and has been vitally interested in pain management and palliative care.
