Lianhong Tang joined the Vanderbilt eHealth Initiative in May, 2005 as the programmer. Prior to this project, he was working for the Cancer Center Bioinformatics core at Vanderbilt starting from 2001. His major task with the Cancer Center was to design the database for the clinical and research data, to implement the system for the data upload, retrieve, and exchange with some other systems, and to do some data analysis on those clinical research combined data.
Lianhong entered the information technology field after he obtained his bachelor degree in chemical engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China (1993). Being a research assistant, Lianhong had the opportunity to combine his knowledge in chemistry and computer science by working for the Chemistry department and the Computer Science department at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) during the time he pursued his master degree in Chemistry (1999) and his master degree in Computer Science (2001) from MTSU.
