Welcome and Introduction

Keynote: Connecting for Health Privacy Principles

Breakout Groups
Participants are assigned fictitious Board roles in communities for the workshop. The communities will review articles from the health care industry and others to begin the discussion of the issues facing a Board member of an organization involved in regional data exchange activities.

Connecting for Health Principles and Other Principles:
The communities will review the Connecting for Health Principles, and then explore the Privacy and Confidentiality Issues poised to each community as they relate to the Connecting for Health Principles. The communities will discuss and examine to which individual Principles the issues relate and prepare a report for the larger workshop community.

Dr. Mark Frisse will lead a discussion evaluating each Markle principle and how the communities addressed the issues presented.

Networking Lunch

Panels
Industry experts from the technology, policy and legal fields will lead discussions. Specific faculty names will be added.

Day Two: September 14, 2006

Schedule

Day 2 Overview
Facilitated group discussion evaluating the progress made in each community addressing the Privacy and Confidentiality issues framed in Day 1.

Case Studies
Each community will review case studies focused on health care and regional data sharing. The cases will relate to the Connecting for Health Principles and key policy issues.

Breakout Groups
Communities will present the case studies, relevance, lessons learned and application to security and privacy framework to the workshop community.

Networking Lunch
Sponsored by eHI and the Vanderbilt Center for Better Health.

Breakout Groups: Organization, Regional, State and Federal Focus
Teams will create implementation plans for their organization.

Output
Facilitated group discussion on the input provided for the organization, regional, state or federal level from the working teams.
