Research Forum Policy

The following policy went into effect on June 1st (with June 13th as the first Wednesday Forum meeting):

  • Research Forum will be held 6-7 times per semester on Wednesdays at 4:10
  • It will be a 0 credit hour course, graded Pass/Fail
  • During each semester, a student may have one unexcused absence with no questions asked
  • Absences owing to illness, emergency, or academic commitments outside the student's control can be excused with permission from the program director or DGS
  • Only students in years 2-4 must present, but all students not currently writing a thesis are required to attend
  • Advanced students, including those in year five or beyond, may request to give a longer talk (40 minutes)
  • Presenting students should invite at least two faculty members to their talk
