Sonic Hedgehog Signaling in Development and Disease

Our research objective focuses on elucidating genetic mechanisms and the Sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling pathway in regulating mammalian central nervous system development and uncovering the molecular and cellular mechanisms implicated in human disorders resulting from the dysregulation of the Shh signaling pathway.

1 Secreted Shh protein is dually modified by lipids.
2 Shh pathway activation is achieved by relieving Ptch-mediated inhibition of Shh signaling pathway.
3 Gli is a bifunctional zinc-finger transcription factor, the primary mediator of Shh signaling.
