    'Grayson's Anatomy: Kenya Handle It?'

    Somewhere in Africa…

“I am drenched head to toe in sweat and tuberculosis. Somewhere deep in my soul is a hoarder that has been hiding for the last two years… In these ORs, when you put a functional instrument down, there’s at least 50% chance that the one you’ll get back won't work. So when i have an instrument I like, I hoard it... on the far side of me from the scrub.... oopsie!”

This excerpt comes from the journal of Britney Grayson, current chief resident in General Surgery, during the time she worked at AIC Kijabe Hospital in Western Kenya during her 4th year of residency. She has long had an interest in international work, and AWS is thrilled to have her give a talk about her experiences!

For anyone with an interest in surgery, global health, emergency medicine - or if you just want to hear an entertaining and eye-opening discussion of medicine in a resource-poor region (with pictures!) - please join us on May 10 at 6 PM. Dinner provided courtesy of AWS.
