'What if we lived in a world like that?' with Dr. Beth Helmink

Have you ever heard of Gerty Cori, Rosalyn Yalow, or Gertrude Elion?

What about azathioprine, genetic recombination, and the Cori cycle?

Over the past century, women have been advancing medicine and technology with scientific breakthroughs without which we wouldn’t be living in the world we know today. Unfortunately, all too often, they don’t receive the recognition they deserve.

Please join us as Beth Helmink, chief resident in General Surgery, gives a compelling and heartwarming talk about the work of 12 women who broke the mold and were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine (though sometimes many decades after their discoveries). The talk will take place on June 8 at 6 PM.
