The Eskind Biomedical Library collection development team is undertaking a major review and reduction of our print journal holdings – you may see empty shelves where print journals once stood during this process.
The collection development team has determined that EBL is providing reliable online access to the journals that have been removed. These can be accessed online via the Digital Library. Online access provides many benefits to users, including access from off-campus, access when the library is closed, and the ability for more than one person to use the same material simultaneously.
Supplements and special issues that are not available electronically are being retained so we will not affect the integrity of the collection. Interrupted series of older bound volumes of journals that could not be donated due to missing volumes are being recycled. We have also provided a list of publishers’ resources for developing countries for those interested in programs connecting other nations to low-cost and free journals.
As redundant print materials are removed, EBL will also be developing a plan for the vacated space to better suit the needs of library visitors and the medical center. We appreciate your patience during the transition.
