The Eskind Biomedical Library provides a number of services to support the information needs of the Vanderbilt community.

Educational Services

  • View a list of available training sessions and request training - learn effective search strategies and best practices across medical, bioresearch, genetics and other sources. Training sessions are available to individuals and can be scheduled for small groups such as Emphasis students and new residents.
  • Research/Author Support - learn about locating literature, citation management, finding funding, finding and using images, copyright, resources for mobile devices, and more.
  • Request assistance with a search strategy or resource selection on a clinical/medical topic via this online request form or by contacting us directly by phone. Assistance with searches/database selection in biosciences such as genetics/molecular biology is also available. Searches can also be performed by an information specialist for both Vanderbilt and non-Vanderbilt personnel for a fee.

  • On-Demand Library Orientations - use our online form to request a personlized library tour and let an experienced and friendly EBL staff member orient you to our facility, collection, and services.
  • Place course materials on reserve (for faculty)

Collection Services

In addition to the services listed above, the library provides access to computing, copying and scanning equipment and study spaces in the library and maintains a Special Collections department housing history of medicine and VUMC archival materials.
