Vanderbilt Center for Human Nutrition Needs Healthy Adults for Weight Loss Study

Vanderbilt Center for Human Nutrition

If you are female, between the ages of 21 and 50 and you have a Body Mass Index between 30 and 39.9, you may be able to participate in a study to assess the effects of eating a modified Atkins diet on risk for diabetes and heart disease as well as changes in body composition and energy expenditure.

To participate, you can not be currently taking medications for weight loss, blood pressure or diabetes.

If you meet the study eligibility criteria and agree to participate, you must be willing to come to the Vanderbilt Center for Human Nutrition for nine visits with a registered dietitian and to the Clinical Research Center for four research visits during a four-month period.

The study will include blood work, tests of cardiovascular function, DEXA scans to measure body composition, measurement of your energy expenditure and a dietary supplement for you to take, at no charge to you. You will be provided with daily menus to follow and some foods to include in your meal planning.

If you qualify, our study dietitian will contact you.
