Health Professions Gerald S. Gotterer Education Research Day to be Friday, Oct. 14

Celebrate and highlight health professions education and research at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and School of Nursing  Gerald S. Gotterer Health Professions Education Research Day on Friday, Oct. 14.

William McGaghie, Ph.D., will present the keynote address, "What Does it Take to Achieve Translational Science Goals in Health Professions Education Research?" at 2 p.m. in 202 Light Hall.

The address will cover five topics: (1) definition of translational science goals in health professions education; (2) features of educational interventions that yield powerful, downstream results; (3) the need for thematic, sustained and cumulative research programs; (4) unexpected, collateral effects of powerful educational interventions; and (5) mixed methods research to better understand operative features of educational interventions in health care. Data and examples will be used to illustrate each topic. Q and A will follow the address.
