University-wide limited submission opportunity: Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation

Vanderbilt may nominate one candidate for the 2013 Beckman Young Investigators Program. These four-year $750,000 awards support tenure-track investigators in the chemical or life sciences.

Projects should represent innovative departures in research rather than expansions of existing programs and should cut across traditional boundaries of scientific disciplines. Proposals that open up new avenues of research in chemistry and the life sciences by fostering the invention of methods, instruments and materials will be given additional consideration.

Those interested in being considered as Vanderbilt’s nominee must submit the following (in PDF format) to LSO@vanderbilt.edu by 5 p.m. on Aug. 10.

1. Brief (two-page maximum) research plan including summary budget;
2. Brief statement of support from department chair/center director;
3. A brief CV or NIH biosketch.

Once received, all proposals will be forwarded to an internal review committee that will choose the final nominee. The chosen nominee will submit a Letter of Intent to the foundation by its Oct. 1 deadline.
If you have any questions about the foundation or its interests and priorities, please contact Vivian Carmichael, executive director of Foundation Relations.
