Charlene Dewey wins ATHENA Award
Charlene Dewey, M.D., co-director of the Center for Professional Health and associate professor of Medical Education and Administration and Medicine, has been named the Nashville winner of the 2013 ATHENA Award.
According to ATHENA International, awards are presented to individuals who:
- Have achieved the highest level of professional excellence.
- Contribute time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community.
- Actively assist others, particularly women, in realizing their full leadership potential.
Dewey joined the faculty in 2007, and was appointed to the School of Medicine’s Academy of Teaching Excellence in 2008. She is married to Wayne Riley, M.D., MBA, MPH, president and CEO of Meharry Medical College and professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt.
The presentation was made at an award ceremony last week.
