VUMC in the news

A roundup of a few recent positive stories from the press about Vanderbilt University Medical Center:

A New York Times piece, “How the Response to Zika Failed Millions,” quoted William Schaffner, M.D., professor of Preventive Medicine.

Schaffner was also a source in a Reuters story about person-to-person TB transmission, which was picked up by, among other media outlets, Fox News.

NBC News was among the news outlets covering a Vanderbilt study about removing children’s tonsils. The piece quotes Sivakumar Chinnadurai, M.D., assistant professor of Otolaryngology.

U.S. News and World Report picked up the recent HealthDay News story about children born to mothers addicted to opioids. The story quotes Stephen Patrick, M.D., MPH, assistant professor of Pediatrics and Health Policy.

Nashville Scene published a feature on Zika vaccine research at Vanderbilt, focusing on the lab of James Crowe Jr., M.D., director of the Vanderbilt Vaccine Center.
