Vantrease art requested for upcoming exhibition
A memorial exhibition of artworks by longtime VUMC artist Robert “Bobby” Vantrease is scheduled for the Lott Gallery at the University Club, and organizers are requesting loans of artwork for the exhibition.
“We already have many examples of Bobby’s work for the exhibition,” said Anne Rayner, a Vanderbilt photographer and longtime friend who is helping organize the event. “But we know that many other people have paintings or drawings that they might want to consider lending for the exhibition.”
Those who have framed work by Mr. Vantrease that they would like to have considered for exhibit should send a photograph of the work to Doris Wasserman at firstname.lastname@example.org, by Friday, July 21. If the work is accepted, it should be delivered to the University Club on Monday, July 31, between 4 and 6 p.m.
A reception scheduled for Sept. 6, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and is open to all. The Vantrease exhibit will run Aug. 2 – Sept. 28.
Mr. Vantrease retired in 2013 after a 64-year career at VUMC. He died in 2016 at the age of 89. His obituary from the VUMC Reporter is here.
