VUMC sponsors Nashville Pride Festival, June 23-24
Vanderbilt University Medical Center is once again a major sponsor of the Nashville Pride Festival, set for June 23-24 at Public Square Park.
To kick off the festival, VUMC employees, led by the Medical Center's Program for LGBTI health, plan to participate in the Equality Walk, which starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, at Public Square Park.
"We'd like to have as many VUMC employees join us as we walk in support of the LGBTQI community, many of whom are our patients, neighbors, family members, and friends," said Del Ray Zimmerman, manager of VUMC's program for LGBTI Health.
The VUMC group plans to line up at 9:30 a.m. at 2nd Avenue and Commerce Street. After the walk, participants are encouraged to stay to enjoy music, vendors and other festivities. VUMC staff and volunteers will be under our large tent near the stage.
While the Equality Walk is free, entrance to the Nashville Pride Festival costs $5. Children 10 and under get in free. Organizers point out it is a family-friendly event.
