eStar Thrive training now available for inpatient nurses

Last fall, the eStar training team expanded its popular Thrive training to nurses, starting with those who worked in outpatient clinics. Beginning Feb. 11, this eStar training will now also be available for inpatient nurses. Structured just for them, Thrive training will help inpatient nurses:

  • Expand their eStar knowledge
  • Gain additional confidence in system use
  • Further personalize eStar to their specific preferences and needs

Thrive training is based on Epic best practices and is a great learning tool to better improve knowledge of eStar. Each session lasts 90 minutes and will focus on important areas, including:

  • Personalizing your workspace
  • Using a Smart Phrase – for education or discharge
  • Setting a default date range for lab results
  • Available lists
  • Patient lists
  • Worklist – patient view vs. time view
  • Open MAR and flowsheets from patient lists
  • MAR
  • Flowsheets
  • Navigators
  • Releasing and preparing to transfuse blood
  • Documenting blood administration without a barcode scanner
  • Medication administration
  • Orders

Classes will be held at the Oxford House Room and One Hundred Oaks with times starting as early as 7:00 AM. Thrive training continues for outpatient nurses.

Nursing registration for Thrive training is completed through the VUMC Learning Exchange.
