Limited Submission Funding Opportunity: National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the CDC
This program will review grant applications for education and research centers (ERC) that are focused on occupational safety and health training and research training.
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is mandated to provide an adequate supply of qualified personnel to carry out the purposes of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and ERCs are one of the principal means for meeting this mandate.
ERCs are academic institutions that provide interdisciplinary graduate training and continuing education in the core occupational safety and health areas of industrial hygiene, occupational health nursing, occupational medicine residency, occupational safety, as well as other closely related occupational safety and health fields. Research and research training are integral components of ERCs, thus ERC scientists conduct peer-reviewed, investigator initiated research on issues related to the National Occupational Research Agenda.
The total amount of funds to be awarded under this program is approximately $20 million dollars per year for new competing applications, competing renewal applications and continuing awards. The number of awards for this program is between 12 and 20, depending on the quality of the applications and funds available. The deadline for application submission is Sept. 10.
