The Red Cross bus will be parked in front of VUSN from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Donors are encouraged to schedule their appointments now. Please visit and click the blue box on left hand side that says “Enter Sponsor Code” and enter Vandy19. Then scroll down to Vanderbilt School of Nursing and click on “click here to schedule an appointment”

Everyone who signs in to donate will be entered in a drawing from among all of the Aug. 31 blood drive presenting donors for a $100 gas card. Donors may also register online at to win a new Ford Fiesta.

Why donate?

• Thirty-eight percent of the population can donate blood, but since only 3 percent of the eligible population gives blood, any decrease in donations can cause a big impact on the blood supply.

• Every two seconds someone in America needs blood.

• Each year, nearly 5 million people in the United States need a lifesaving blood transfusion, and 38,000 units of blood are needed each day.

• The No. 1 reason people say they don’t donate blood is because they were never asked.

Please participate if you can.
